Aabhaasam (2018)

A 2018 Malayalam movie which I feel was underrated during theatre release and I don’t even think if it had good theatre collections. Not a big-budget movie but has a lot of great character actors in it.

A 2018 Malayalam movie which I feel was underrated during theatre release and I don’t even think if it had good theatre collections. Not a big-budget movie but has a lot of great character actors in it.

The movie is basically about Gandhi travels, a bus run by Democracy travel agency that departs from Bangalore for Kerala and its travellers represent the members of an audience it tries to communicate with. All the passengers except the ones in the very last row share an equal part in this movie. From the name “Aabhaasam” a Malayalam word which in this context is about the harassment and frustration of the characters in this movie during the journey.

When considering the making of the movie I was very impressed with few magical shots which came in between for some characters which showed their inner peace and happiness. The rest of the making is all about the details of each character that is about where they come from and the way different characters are relatable in a typical bus journey. Special appreciation to the Oorali band for some thoughtful songs.

Don’t put up high hopes and expectations, this is a simple movie which I hope you guys will like it.

Happy Quarantine. Stay Safe. Stay Healthy.😊

Verdict: 5/7 Stars

Excellent.

Trivia:

At the stage of scripting, this film was named “Keezhshwaasam” (fart). It was changed to “Aabhaasam” at pre-production.
