We are accustomed to films, where  an imposing young man enters the scene accompanied by a background theme which is  followed by thunderous dialogues. A tremendous display of the power of khaki. The criminals are caught and we ‘just remember that’ as we leave the theatres.

True, we have had flicks like  Action Hero Biju and Unda that attempted to take the road less travelled in the past , but they all have  pulled punches towards the end despite the efforts to keep the plot realistic. On the other hand Nayattu from Martin Prakatt presents the grounded reality of the legal system in our country.  It depicts the helplessness of policemen who are accused of wrongdoing in order  to execute the agenda of political kingpins. The power that khaki had earlier seems to be a tale full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Watch Nayyatt  not to see the heroism of the police force but to see the dirty side of law that is driven by caste and personal interests.

While leaving the theatre with a heavy heart , one question lingers. What is more important ? cast or caste?

Verdict: 7/7 Stars.

Bloody Brilliant.
